Wild Garden Arrangement

Wild Garden Arrangement

Hello my flower loving friends,
Last weekend I was at the very beautiful Dorset Brocante exhibiting my art & ceramics. It’s a lovely fair with quality artisans and vintage dealers and I always end up coming home with new treasures. This time it was this beautiful tureen that caught my eye before the gates were even open, I just had to have it, the perfect amount of faded pink in just the right shade, just what I’d been looking for to style my arrangements. Today I finally found a quiet half an hour to make something lovely.
This weigela is growing in the woodland garden and is about the only thing that escaped the hungry deer this spring. I don’t usually opt for such a strong colour but I just loved it’s from. Based around this I set out to gather wild flowers around the garden to create a natural looking arrangement that looks just like a garden growing out of a vintage tureen.
I incorporated the dandelion as we have so many I thought I’d embrace it. I’m not a fan of the yellow flower as I don’t like yellow in arrangements unless it’s a creamy buttermilk- however I’ve always loved these fairy pom-poms of magic! I’ve also included cow parsley and lots of wild geraniums. There’s a beautiful self set aquilegia growing in one of the raised beds that we’re dismantling so I snipped some of that too. The hellebores are also holding on so just a sprig of that and some clematis are fennel fronds to soften the edges. I always like something to trail over the sides for a romantic softness, it stops that harsh line between vessel and arrangement and makes it more natural and appealing.
I’ll be running workshops later this year in garden gathered arrangements. Sign up to the free version of my newsletter to be notified of dates as they are released.
